Speed Queen Washers and Drivers: The Industry Standard

Speed Queen appliances have long held a reputation for quality and durability, with even residential models rivaling commercial options at every price point. If you’re considering Sqpeed Queen, take a moment to learn more about the brand and why this US-made appliance is an excellent choice for any household.

Speed Queen Is Commercial-Grade

Every Speed Queen washer and dryer is built to last more than twice as long as other options. Instead of plastic parts, Speed Queen manufactures every unit with robust, heavy-duty metal parts and components, delivering years of worry-free use lasting up to 25 years. Most rival appliance brands last 8 to 12 years.

Why Speed Queen Is a Good Brand

Read most reviews, and you’ll find plenty of owners raving about Speed Queen's longevity and reliability. Metal components are key; Speed Queen uses metal transmissions, stainless steel tubs, and powerful motors that can handle even the heaviest loads.

This durability does come with a premium price tag; most models run between $1,300 and $3,500 and include several sizes and options, including:

  • TC Series: Built with a powerful agitator, the TC Series is ideal for homes with heavily soiled work or sports clothing.
  • TR Series: Protect sensitive everyday fabrics with the TR Series’ water-driven system.
  • FF Series: Dedicated front loaders with special cycles and settings.
  • Stackable Washer and Dryer Units: Limit your laundry appliance footprint with a stackable washer and dryer combo that still packs commercial-quality cleaning power.

Who Makes Speed Queen Washers and Dryers?

Today, Speed Queen is made by Alliance Laundry Systems, a leading commercial laundry company based in Ripon, Wisconsin.

Speed Queen was founded in 1908 by Joe Barlow and John Selig, two hardware store owners seeking to improve hand-powered washing machines. They invented a unique high-speed gearing technique that made the subsequent electric washer of 1911 a viable alternative to hand-washing.

Where Are Speed Queen Washers Made?

After more than a century and a change in ownership, the brand still makes all of its appliances in Ripon, Wisconsin. That’s right, every single model is designed and built in Ripon, Wisconsin, making Speed Queen a leading US appliance manufacturer.

Who Owns Speed Queen?

The brand is still based in Wisconsin, but Alliance Laundry Systems now own it. Alliance is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial laundry machines. Alliance itself was acquired by BDT Capital Partners, a private equity firm that retains 73% ownership despite Alliance's going public in October 2025.

Alliance Laundry Systems also owns:

  • UniMac
  • Huebsch
  • IPSO
  • Primus

Speed Queen’s Warranty Is Second to None

Instead of the industry-standard one-year limited warranty, Speed Queen offers 3- to 7-year full part and labor coverage. They also offer a lifetime warranty on the stainless steel tub. To get warranty coverage, you do need to complete registration once your appliance is installed. Max’s will always help you get your warranty registration completed if you need any assistance.

Most Speed Queen reviews note the longevity of top models, though there is certainly some variability between models, especially for certain years. If you have any questions about Speed Queen’s warranty or need assistance registering your washer or dryer warranty, please get in touch!
