Hotpoint appliances remain among the most reliable, durable home appliance manufacturers around. While the brand doesn’t have the same name recognition it had in the past, it remains a fixture of dedicated appliance stores like Max’s.
If you’re looking for Hotpoint appliances in Traverse City or anywhere in northern Michigan, your search begins and ends right here!
Known as America’s hardest-working appliances, Hotpoint manufactures a full slate of kitchen, laundry, and even residential HVAC equipment. The brand is best known for its refrigerators, freezers, and ranges, though it also makes a selection of quality dishwashers, too.
Hotpoint models focus on specific price points to offer homeowners an affordable yet reliable option for any application. Its 24” and 30” ENERGY STAR electric ranges, for example, run between $899 and $779, with size and control location only marginally increasing the price.

The Hotpoint brand has a fascinating history and a stalwart following of generational supporters. Hotpoint started in 1903 when Earl Richardson created an electric iron that was lighter and easier to use than the contemporary option. Around the same time, George A. Hughes designed an early electric range that, unfortunately, would burn out after only a few hours of use.
In 1918, the pair began working together under the General Electric Company banner. The Hotpoint brand debuted its all-white, enameled electric range in 1924. It offered the industry's first 90-day replacement guarantee in 1961 and again pushed the industry forward in 1965 with the first low-speed clothes washer. This made it easy to wash lingerie, synthetics, and cashmere sweaters in the washing machine, instead of by hand.
Technically, Hotpoint is a GE brand in North America, but it’s manufactured in Europe under a different umbrella.
In the US, Canada, and Latin America, Hotpoint is managed by GE Appliances, which itself is owned by Haier.
In Europe, Hotpoint is manufactured by Beko Europe. Beko is a joint venture between Arçelik and Whirlpool; it’s completely separate from GE in these markets.
If you’re buying a Hotpoint appliance anywhere in North America, you can be relatively confident it was made in the US. However, the company does make some smaller appliances overseas through Haier’s manufacturing network.
Hotpoint is widely considered to be a brand positioned squarely at the intersection of quality and affordability. While you won’t find the latest technologies or trendy designs and colors, you’ll enjoy the durability. They’re made with mechanical knobs and buttons, have fewer electronic parts and are easy to clean.
If you’re looking for an appliance that doesn’t require an app or WiFi in order to realize all its features, Hotpoint is the pick for you!
