Candy might get all the attention, but when it comes to a real treat, the best Halloween sweet-things come from the oven. If you love baking, these three recipes are a real scream to make, and the whole family will love them!
This year’s festivities might look a bit different from normal editions of October’s marquee holiday. With many state and local health departments advising families skip trick-or-treating, we’re all going to have to find new ways to make the season special. Even if the kids are venturing out, bring the fun, the thrill, and the flavor of a sweet Halloween home with some memorable baked goods.
We scoured the internet for some great ideas for a very unique Halloween. You can find our favorite recipes, costumes, and decorations all in one spot here. When it comes to baking, we’ve bigged three of the top choices to get you fired up.
If you follow a few (or dozens!) of baking blogs, you’ve almost certainly drooled over the prevalence of delicious hand-pies, turnovers, and pastry tarts. Well, this Halloween, give ‘em a go! This recipe for Mummy Pumpkin Hand Pies is simply beautiful and delicious. Making the crust can be a little difficult, but give yourself a little time and you’ll have it down pat! The best part? The edible googly eyes! Make each mummy unique and watch them disappear.
This isn’t your normal Halloween fare. Add a bit of sophistication to your treats with these Meringue-Topped Ghost Tartlets. We did try making these, and we quickly realized that getting the graham cracker crust right is key. Ours turned out a little bit crumbly, but if you’ve made that sort of crust before, you’ll likely have no trouble.
Finally, we love these Peanut Butter Monsters! There’s nothing as delicious as peanut butter, and these are also a great way to get the kids involved. It is an absolute blast to have your own little monsters decorate and devour a couple of these peanut butter balls, but make sure they save you a few!
What are your favorite Halloween treats? Let us know what you’re whipping up this year and how you’re keeping the holiday fun safely!
