If you’ve followed the page for a while, you might have noticed we’re pretty big fans of waffles. So on Christmas, while the kids are eager to rip into their presents and the adults are reveling in the strong, rich aromas of ham, gravy, and buttered rolls, we’re already heating up the waffle iron. The hardest part of the best breakfast of the entire year is having to pick just one or two batters to whip up!
And that’s part of what makes waffles so fun; they’re endlessly adaptable, endlessly customizable, and always so easy to make your own. What’s your favorite flavor? You can probably make it taste good with waffles; look at chicken!
But for a festive flair, we’re offering up just a few ideas for what to create on Christmas morning. Treat these as a starting point, and flex your muscles with new recipes and new ways to bring your favorite flavors into your holiday tradition!
Gingerbread Maple Donut Waffles. Gingerbread might just be the quintessential flavor of the festive season. Bring that unique, earthy, and bright flavor to your breakfast plate. The waffles themselves lean heavy on the gingerbread, but the real key to making the flavors really pop is the maple glaze! Make sure you’re using real maple syrup, too; the imitation stuff just won’t hold up.

Pumpkin Spice Waffles. Pumpkin isn’t just a fall thing. It’s a flavor that goes deep into the holidays; in fact, that last slice of pumpkin pie might just be the last taste of the holiday season you have! And these waffles are perfect for Christmas morning, too. And this is real pumpkin, too, calling for a whole 15 ounce can of puree. As always, that’s puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Like all recipes, make this your own; add in pecans, more spice, or create a glaze to top it all off!
Chocolate Buttermilk Belgian Waffles. We’re not kidding. Chocolate. Check. Buttermilk. Uh-huh. And Belgian-style? Count us in. Get your very, very sweet tooth satisfied in just a bite or two with this fluffy, delicious chocolate buttermilk recipe! So what makes this Christmas-y? Just the flavor! As the recipe points out, fresh and sliced strawberries are key to making this work!
